Guests will be treated to a special dance performance featuring the dances and brightly coloured costumes from various regions of Ukraine  You will also get to enjoy the "Troyanda" debut of several new dances choreographed by Troyanda's Artistic Director Dean Mackedenski.  "Russian Dervish", "Forever Volyn", "Gypsy Fire" and "Winterdance" were specially choreographed for a collaboration with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra this past May.  Ensemble dancers worked on these pieces for a whole year but were kept underwraps until their guest performance with the LSO.  Now  Troyanda family, friends and fans get to reap the benefits with a breathtaking performance.

A complete Ukrainian Family style dinner (perogies, Ukrainian sausage, cabbage rolls, etc) will follow.  The evening will be topped off with a dance with live music provided by Calgary's favourite Ukrainian band, Absolute.  The most memorable part of the night, however, is usually the ever popular Kolomeyka.  Highlights of last year's Malanka and Kolomeyka can be viewed on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dki3vdOJmRU&noredirect=1

Tickets can be purchased by phoning CASA (403) 327-CASA (2272) or in person at 230, 8 Street South (open 9-9 Monday through Friday).  Ticket prices are $45 for adults, $35 for students and seniors (65 and up) and $20 for children (12 and under) Support of this event helps finance Troyanda year-round.

Now celebrating their 19th year, the Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Club is a not-for-profit organization with members that volunteer their time to preserving and promoting the artful heritage of Ukrainian dance in southern Alberta.
